SEATTLE -- Felix Hernandez has been on a record-setting pattern over the past three months and Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon wants to make sure it continues when it means a lot more. Hernandez (12-3) went eight innings, allowed one run, struck out eight and walked one in the Mariners 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves Tuesday. It was his 15th straight start -- dating back to May 18 -- in which he worked at least seven innings and allowed two runs or fewer, an on-going big-league record. Hernandez also tied Gaylord Perrys 1974 streak with Cleveland when he had 15 straight starts with at least seven innings and allowing two or fewer earned runs. Hernandez threw just 97 pitches without a lot of stressful innings. He wanted the chance at his first complete game in nearly two years but that was enough for McClendon. Fernando Rodney worked the ninth, allowed a run but earned his 31st save in 34 opportunities. "It was my decision," McClendon said. "Ill continue to do this. Ill continue to protect my players. Im trying to win meaningful games in September. I want Felix healthy and strong in September. "Im like Frank Sinatra, were doing it my way." Hernandez, who used to bluster and argue to remain in the game, said he has eased his resistance. "I appreciate that," he said. "He said, youre done. Im done." During his 15-game streak Hernandez is just 8-2. His teammates had scored just 10 runs over his previous five starts when he went 1-1 with three no-decisions. But a fourth-inning error by Braves second baseman Tommy La Stella contributed directly the Mariners go-ahead runs. With the score tie 1-all, two outs and runners on second and third, Chris Taylor popped up behind the first-base bag. La Stella camped under it, leaned back and it caromed off his glove. "I was frustrated," Taylor said. "I thought I was right on it. I just got underneath it. I knew guys were on so I wanted to get a hit. Luckily, he dropped it and I was able to get on second in scoring position." Both runners scored and Taylor advanced to second. He scored on Austin Jacksons single to left. The Braves have lost seven straight. "Its just a physical error and you cant do anything about it," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "And it did cost us those three runs that scored. Sometimes its just the way stuffs going." Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager added, "thats what youre supposed to do. When you get an opportunity you take advantage of it. We were to get two runs on that one. Then Jackson got a big hit. Four runs with Felix going, thats a good combination. Alex Wood (7-9) worked six innings, allowing five hits, just one earned run, walked four and stuck out five. "I thought he (Wood) pitched terrific," Gonzalez said. "Getting a couple runs against Felix and you just cant recover." Hernandez lowered his earned run average to a league-leading 1.97. In Interleague play, he has a 17-7 record and is 5-0 with a 1.20 ERA over his last eight starts against National League teams. He has the best ever ERA in Interleague play 2.54. HAWK TALK Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez, OF Justin Upton and 3B Chris Johnson were among eight Braves personnel who visited the Seahawks training camp during Mondays off day. "I got to spend time with Coach (Pete) Carroll a little bit. That was really cool," Gonzalez said. "We talked a little philosophy afterward. Its a different shaped ball but youre still leading men, still managing people." QB Russell Wilson, who signed a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers this year, also spent time talking with Upton and Johnson. KINGS FULL COURT Whenever Hernandez pitches at Safeco Field, yellow-shirted fans fill the third-base-side lower desk, flashing K signs and chanting when the batter has two strikes. A huge turkey leg, arriving on a silver platter, also is passed around to be consumed by the subjects. Six sections were filled Tuesday, most ever in the lower bowl. The MLB Network filmed the experience to show for a future show. TRAINERS ROOM Mariners: OF Michael Saunders (strained left oblique) was expected to go through the full array of drills to determined his fitness. He has been on the DL since July 11. "My hope is that Michael will be able to go out on (rehab) Thursday," Manager Lloyd McClendon said. Braves: SS Andrelton Simmons had to leave the game with one out in the fourth innings when he sprained his left ankle covered the third-base bag. Ramiro Pena replaced him. Simmons will be reevaluated Wednesday. Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping . Fognini won 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 after Argentinas Carlos Berlocq had beaten Andreas Seppi 4-6, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1 on the outdoor clay surface. Cyber Monday Jerseys . -- Aaron Rodgers looked fine on the practice field Thursday. Cheap Custom Jerseys . -- Henry Josey watched helplessly from the sideline last fall, rehabbing from a serious knee injury, while Missouri was getting pushed around in its first SEC season.REGINA -- The Montreal Alouettes lost the game and potentially something much bigger. Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo left Saturdays 24-21 loss to the Roughriders with a suspected concussion after taking a hit from Saskatchewan defensive end Ricky Foley on the first play of the second quarter and did not return. "Ive got a headache, I felt it right when I got hit and from there it hasnt gone away so they just kept me away from the game," said Calvillo, who added that he didnt remember being hit but didnt think the impact with the ground was what caused his injury. "Im assuming that it is (a concussion)." Calvillo had not been formally diagnosed in the minutes immediately after the game and said his status for Montreals game against the B.C. Lions on Thursday would be determined later in the week. He was replaced in the game by Josh Neiswander, who completed 12 of 30 passes for 147 yards and two interceptions in his CFL debut at quarterback. The win solidified the Roughriders (6-1) place atop the CFLs West Division while Montreal (2-5) lost its second straight game under new head coach Jim Popp, despite 146 yards receiving from S.J. Green. It turned out Calvillos injury was only a sign of things to come for both teams. Montreals injured list grew before halftime when receiver Brandon London took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Saskatchewan safety Tyron Brackenridge and did not return. Alouettes linebacker Kyries Hebert was also knocked out of the game on the same drive. He was kneed in the head by teammate Martin Bedard while covering a punt. The Roughriders werent immune to the injury bug either. Wide receiver Rob Bagg went down just before halftime, appearing to injure his left knee on a routine blocking assignment. Bagg had season-ending surgery in 2012 to repair a torn ACL in the same knee. "I feel so bad for the guy," said Riders slotback Geroy Simon, who became the third player in CFL history to reach 1,000 receptions when he caught a four-yard pass from Darian Durant early in the fourth quarter. "Im a fan of Rob Bagg, even when I played for B.C. all those years. He plays so hard and hes such a gifted, talented guy. To see him go down, no matter what it is, you dont want to see a guy like that get hurt because he works so hard in practice and puts everything he has into it." Roughriders head coach Corey Chamblin had no update on Baggs condition after the game. Saskatchewan survived another scare earlier in the game when Weston Dressler came up unable to move his left shoulder after diving out the back of the end zone for a 22-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter.dddddddddddd Unlike the others, Dressler was able to return to the game. That twist of fate proved critical late in the game when Dressler returned a Montreal punt 38 yards to the Alouettes 38-yard line. Dresslers punt return put the Riders in scoring position and Chris Milo won the game on a 36-yard field goal with no time left on the clock. Dressler was filling in for Jock Sanders after Sanders fumbled twice deep in Saskatchewan territory, setting up two of Alouettes kicker Sean Whytes four field goals on the night. "It didnt happen the way we planned it but we kept fighting, (Durant) trusted me and I made a play when it came to me," said Taj Smith, who caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Durant to tie the game 21-21 with barely a minute to play. That catch came just seconds after Jerald Brown returned Durants second fumble of the game for a 54-yard score to put Montreal ahead by seven. It was also finally enough to silence the boos of the third-largest crowd ever at Mosaic Stadium -- announced at 40,637. The fans showed their dissatisfaction with Durant through most of the third quarter. Durant ultimately went 18-for-32 for 250 yards in his sixth straight game without an interception. "The fans, they want perfection and Ive been here eight years and Ive been booed plenty of times so it was nothing new," he said. "Of course its nothing you want to hear but at the same time you understand why and if you dont want to hear it, just go out there and make plays and give them something to cheer about." Saskatchewan led for most of the first half but had to rally for the win after Sanders coughed up the ball on the opening kickoff of the second half. That turnover gift-wrapped an 11-yard field goal from Whyte and gave the Alouettes an 11-9 lead. The Riders tied the game when Whyte gave up a safety instead of punting from his own 11-yard line and took a temporary lead on the second play of the fourth quarter when Milo kicked a 26-yard field goal. Milo has now hit all 16 of his field goal attempts this year. Whyte tied the game 14-14 on his fourth field goal of the game early in the fourth quarter and had all of Montreals offence up until that point, having also kicked two singles - one on his only missed field goal of the game and the other on a punt single in the third quarter. Punter Ricky Schmitt also kicked two singles for Saskatchewan. ' ' '
